Tropical storm Fay
August 26, 2008 Tropical Storm Fay collided with Florida a record four times. The U.S.
Hydrometeorological Prediction Center labels it one of the most prolific
rainmakers in the state since 1950. It left behind more than 25 inches of rain
across central and southern Florida, flooding more than 1,000 homes and killing
at least 13.

Hurricane Dolly recovery
August 5, 2008 Needs are becoming apparent by the day as flood waters begin to recede following Hurricane Dolly, a category-2 storm that struck south Texas. The July 23 storm caused more than $750 million in damage and flooded more than 1,500 homes.

2008 Spring U.S. storms (updated)
June 12, 2008 The first half of 2008 has seen the most severe
tornado outbreak in 23 years, flooding from Texas to Maine and renewed
flooding in areas that had barely dried out.

2008 U.S. Winter Storms
April 16, 2008 Survivors of flooding early in the year are watching freshly-repaired
homes succumb to water yet again. In the past two weeks, severe weather
has brought tornadoes and flooding to states still recovering from an
active winter and early spring storm season.

March 17, 2008 Only one of the 700 homes in Fernley, Nevada, damaged or destroyed by a Jan. 6 levee break and subsequent flood has insurance to pay for flood damage.

Update: 2008 Southern U.S. Tornadoes
March 7, 2008 As evidence of need is beginning to become clearer and the Federal
Emergency Management Agency begins to report on registrations for
individual assistance, efforts in long-term recovery are beginning to
take shape following February tornadoes across the southern U.S.
